Last month I was sent the Maybelline City Mini Palette through Influenster to test it out and give a review!
Influenster sent me the palette “480 Matte About Town”, which contains six neutral brown shades that are specified as to which goes in the base, crease, lid, or can be used as liner. The first thing I noticed when I swatched these shadows was the pigmentation and shimmer. “Matte” is literally in the name of the palette, but there is a tiny bit of shimmer in the product. It’s not very noticeable and comes off more as a creamy sheen rather than glittery pigmentation. The overall pigmentation of this palette really surprised me! The two lighter shades turned out a bit streaky when swatched, but all the other shadows really delivered pigmentation.
As you can see, the white shade really isn’t a great formula and doesn’t have a nice finish. The other light shade didn’t clump, but I still thought a little more pigment would have been better. Overall, I was really impressed with this palette, the shades, and the pigmentation. The diagram on the back suggests using the white as a base and I would obviously pass over that suggestion. The shades all compliment each other and this is a great, affordable palette to keep on hand for neutral looks!
